Hallo? Ist da jemand? Ich hoffe es, denn wenn niemand da ist, wäre das ein bisschen komisch. Mein Name ist Sarah und ich werde die nächsten 3 Monate hier in Erfurt arbeiten und leben. Ich bin Erfurts Stadtgoldschmiedin 2022! Dies wird eine Art Tagebuch sein, in dem ich ein wenig von meinen Erfahrungen hier, meinem kreativen Prozess, meinem persönlichen Erfahrungen und vieles Mehr teilen werde.

In dieser ersten Woche ging es also um viele erste Male: Ich war zu meiner ersten Ausstellung in Erfurt in der Kunsthalle. Ich hatte meine erste Pressekonferenz auf Deutsch! (ich spreche übrigens kein Deutsch, sorry). Ich war das erste Mal in den Künstlerwerkstätten (die wirklich cool sind!), wo ich arbeiten werde. Und ich habe viele neue Leute kennengelernt, sie sind alle sehr nett und freundlich.

Ich habe auch angefangen, nach Materialien zu suchen, war in den Supermärkten auf der Suche nach Konservendosen, also wenn jemand da draußen das liest und leere Konservendosen hat, lass es mich wissen.

Ich fühle mich hier allmählich wohler und bin gespannt, wie die nächste Woche verlaufen wird. Wie die ersten Schritte meiner Erkundungen vorankommen.

In dieser Woche ging es also viel darum, meine Umgebung zu beobachten und zu erforschen. Ich kann sagen, dass ich viele inspirierende Dinge finde und ich bin sehr gespannt, wie sich das in meiner Arbeit zeigen wird.

Hello? Is someone there?

Hello? Is someone there? I hope so because if there’s no one this is going to be a little awkward. My name is Sarah and I will be working and living here in Erfurt for the next 3 months. I am Erfurt’s city goldsmith 2022! And this will be a sort of diary where I will share a little bit of my experience here, my creative process, my personal one and … a some more.

So, this first week has been about a lot of first times:
I went to my first exhibition in Erfurt in the Kunsthalle. I had my first press conference in German! (by the way, Ich spreche kein Deutsch, sorry). Went for the first time to the Künstlerwerkstätten (which is really cool!), where I will be working. And I’ve met a lot of new people, all of them very kind and friendly.

I’ve also started looking for materials, been exploring the supermarkets looking for food cans, so if someone out there is reading this and has empty food cans let me know.

I'm gradually feeling more comfortable here and I'm curious to see how the next week will go. How the first steps of this research start coming along.

So this week has been a lot about observing and researching my surroundings, I can say that I find a lot of inspiring things and I am really excited to discover how it´s going to translate in my work.
